Nigeria Dropped From 53rd To 59th On Current FIFA Rankings

Nigeria has dropped to the 59th position on the current Fifa rankings released on Thursday morning.

The Super Eagles, who were 53rd in the last three months are now 59th on the globe while in the continental ranking, they are in 12th place.

The Super Eagles, who have a world cup qualifiers against Swaziland in November, played two friendly games in October, losing 2-0 to Congo while beating Cameroon 3-0 in Belgium.

Meanwhile, Ivory Coast have overthrown  Algeria from the leadership on the African continent as Ghana, Cape Verde Islands and Senegal make up the top five teams in Africa in that order.

Nigeria's rivals in the 2017 AFCON qualifiers- Egypt, Tanzania and Chad - are placed 57th, 135th and 136th in the global ranking.

On the global stage, Belgium have risen to the top of the rank followed by Germany, Argentina, Portugal and Chile.

The next ranking will be published by the official website of Fifa, fifa.com on December 3, 2015.
