Warri Wolves head coach, Mansur Abdullahi, has said he was happy for the point his side picked in Lagos against MFM FC at the Agege Township Stadium on Wednesday.
Obinna Eleje put the Seasiders in front in the 54th minute of the encounter, but that wasn't enough to clinch all three points as Isah Akor gave his side a lifeline in the 75th minute of the encounter.
Coach Abdullahi, who admitted that his boys weren't fit enough for the game following their refusal to train over the issue of salary revealed that he had to load his defense to stop the fast and energetic MFM from doing damage to his team.
"We came with tactics and what is the tactics, if you can't win, you should play draw and unfortunately, may because of the striker, I lost the last goal opportunity to make it 2-1."
"I used more defenders, having known that these guys didn't train for five days, and the only way to play and sustain a team like mountain of fire is to have more defenders that can work. If you watch Tega Ogidi who was substituted in first half, he did a lot of damage on Onuwa and I think Onuwa wasn't able perform as usual, so I came with more defenders than midfielders."
Coach Mansur further explained that he's sure the Delta State outfit will avoid the drop at the end of the season, saying he will continue to work hard to pick more points away from home, while they go ahead to win all their remaining home games.
"Well, After the end of week 38, we'll surely escape relegation, we just picked a point away, who says we can't pick another in our next away game, but for us to escape the drop fully, we have to maintain our home winning in five games and we end up with 50 points even if we fail to pick anymore points on the road."
"I'm not under pressure despite the fact that the white man who was in charge of the team stepped out, but as a coach you should be able to take challenges and that is part of the risks in the job."
