Flying Eagles head coach, Manu Garba has said that he is not worried that some key players that helped him win the FIFA U-17 world cup at the United Arab Emirates two years ago did not make his final squad.
Garba, who has been preparing the nation's U-20 national team for the African Youth Championship left out the 2013 FIFA U-17 most valuable player, Kelechi Iheanacho out of his team, while Musa Yahaya has been dropped due to injury during the build up towards the tournament.
He said that his choice of selection was based on the players availability of the players during the Super Six tournament, where they conquered and won the title in Abuja, beating the league leaders, Kano Pillars and even the Dream Team VI to the title.
"The 21 players we selected for the tournament is a team that’s ready so much so because they were the same players that persecuted the 4 team invitational defeating Enyimba, Kano Pillars, Dolphins and co, drawing the U-23 at the end. The same team went to Ghana, played a 2-2 draw and beat them 2-0 in the second game."
"Yahaya will be out for about 6 weeks according to the Medical reports, so he’s completely out of the competition but we have other players who are capable." footballlive
