Former Super Eagles goalkeeper, Abiodun Baruwa has backed the Golden Eaglets to defend the U-17 FIFA world cup title they won in the United Arab Emirate this year in Chile.
The nation's U-17 national team conquered the world two years ago after winning their fourth FIFA title, under bcoach Manu Garba, and they are expected win their fifth crown in the South American nation.
The Emmanuel Amuneke-led team, who failed to win a silverware at the CAF U-17 youth championship earlier this year in Niger are tipped by many to struggle at this summer's tournament.
Baruwa, who has bagged a Level Two certificate in coaching including a Level One certificate in goalkeeping coaching from the English FA is adamant that the lads are capable of succeeding in South America, given the experience their handler.
“We should. There is nothing stopping us. Take that right players and everyone will come onboard to support the team all through,” Baruwa told Goal.
“I didn't know the team but for sure I know Amuneke is winner because I have played with him and I know how passionate he can be to find and get a result.
“With this, I am sure he will turn everything around from their last performance before the World Cup tournament,” he concluded.
This year’s edition will be the 16th edition of the competition and will span between October 17 – November 8, 2015. goal
