The current leaders of the Nigeria Professional Football League, Sunshine Stars have registered four new players with the League Management Company.
The players were promoted from the Rising Stars Academy were to the state's senior team, Sunshine by the Ondo State Football Agency.
The agency disclosed that this has been a part of Governor Olusegun Mimiko’s objectives to developing the grassroots football and discoveries of fresh talents.
It was also in response to Sunshine Stars’ request for quality players as the mid-season transfer window opens.
Two players, Kehinde Adedipe and Emmanuel James were promoted to the senior team at the beginning of the season from the academy, while four have been added to solidify the team's chances of winning the league title for the first time.
Adedipe was on target on his full debut as he scored the opening goal for Sunshine Stars in their 3-1 win over Akwa United in a recent game in Akure.
The new players to join the NPFL outfit are goalkeeper Azeez Ikhana, Gbaluwe Damilola, Oluwole Tolulope and Ajibade Abiola. The players have since been registered with the League Management Company.
ODSFA Chairman, Akin Akinbobola, said, “We are not surprised with the quality of players that are coming out of Rising Stars Academy; this is because the state governor has committed a lot of resources into the process of discovering and nurturing of talented footballers from the grassroots in the state.” Punch
