Former Nigeria defender, Yisa Shofoluwe, has predicted a tough game for Super Eagles coach, Sunday Oliseh as he prepares to face Egypt in their third Afcon qualifiers next month.
Oliseh, who started his campaign against the Taifa Stars of Tanzania on September 5 with a draw will host Egypt in a yet to be decided venue in March 2015.
The 1980 Afcon champion also took time to heap praises on the Eagles debutant, Carl Ikeme, saying he's a reliable replacement for the current Nigerian goalkeeper, Vincent Enyeama.
“I enjoyed the goalkeeper [Ikeme] who was in goal for us, he was absolutely fantastic,” Shofoluwe told Goal.
“He was the reason why we escaped with a draw in Dar es Salam. Cool, calm and blessed with great reflexes, the positive we can take from this game is that that we have a very reliable replacement for Enyeama .
“Summarily, I feel it was a good start for Oliseh. Personally, we should have won the game but that draw is a commendable result.”
“Playing against Egypt will be very tough,” he continued.
“We need to invite our best legs and prepare very well because this team are far better than the Tanzanians.
“They are skillful, fast and very compact so we must ensure we secure maximum points at home and hope we get a draw in Cairo.
“We will definitely qualify but it won’t be on a platter of gold as we must win all our remaining games and avoid defeat. Hard work will see us through,” he concluded.
Super Eagles now have four points and top Group G pending the outcome of Sunday’s game between Chad and Egypt. AfricanFootball
