Oliseh Admits Debutant Ikeme Saved Nigeria's Blushes

Super Eagles head coach, Sunday Oliseh has showered praises on Wolverhampton goalkeeper, Carl Ikeme, who helped Nigeria rescue a point against Tanzania in faraway Dar Es Salam on Saturday.

The national team debutant denied the home team an easy win over the Sunday Oliseh's boys on match day two of the African Cup of Nations qualifers.

The 29-year old Wolverhampton Wanderers goalkeeper got his chance following the death of captain Vincent Enyeama's mother few days before the game.

“I don’t like to single out players from the team, but I have to admit that Carl Ikeme had a great game for us today,” remarked Oliseh after the game in Tanzania..

Oliseh said he will take the point on the road after his team struggled particularly in the first half.

“We were disorganised in the first half, but fared better in the second,” he said.

“In the second half, we organised ourselves better, but lacked that quality supply from midfield to attack. We will get better.

“We have to continue to build. We barely had two good days of training before this match, so I am happy with the one point.”
