Kano Pillars In Shock Over Abdul Haruna Sudden Death

Kano Pillars media officer, Idris Malikawa has confirmed the passing away of their former midfielder, Abdul Haruna who died on Sunday evening during a friendly match in Kano.

“Kano Pillars are still in a state of shock regarding the cause of his death. He was one of most important players while alive and we were shocked that he would die so early like this. We pray that Allah grant his eternal rest and may his family be able to bear the loss. He will be buried on Monday morning according to Islamic rites in Kano."

Malikawa further explained that Haruna's death remains a mystery to the club because the friendly match that claimed his life was between his colleagues and some overseas-based professionals held in a very small pitch in Kano.

He said Haruna fell down unchallenged and was immediately rushed to the nearby hospital before he was confirmed dead by the doctor on duty, adding that his death was a loss to both Kano State and Nigeria as a whole and that the club, asking Allah to grant the family of the deceased the fortitude to bear the loss.

Haruna, who played for Heartland would be buried on Monday morning according to Islamic rites, leaving his lovely wife, Surayya, whom he married in 2012 and a baby boy.

Haruna had a stint with a club in Vietnam, Song Lam Nghe An and had come back to Kano to enjoy the yuletide period with his friends and family members before the unfortunate incident. Goal
