Watford's Coach Says His players Were Awesome Despite Losing 2-1 To Tottenham

Quique Sanchez Flores has praised the performance oh his players despite losing 2-1 to Tottenham at home on Monday night.

The visitors struck first through Erik Lamela in the early periods of the game before Nigeria's Ighalo cancelled the goal in the 41st minute.

The Hornets finally lost the game in the later parts of the game after Nathan Ake was shown a straight red with half-an-hour to go.

Flores has this to say: "It was a tough match and the circumstances were difficult," said Flores, speaking after the final whistle.

"We still had a chance to win the game near the end and I am proud of the performance of my players.

"We are disappointed with the result, but it is clear that this team has amazing soul."

"We were brave to attack and we forced four or five corner kicks near the end, but in the last moment we conceded a goal," he said.
"I feel sorry for the players because we had the possibility to draw, but I am really proud of my players.

"It is very cruel but we have to accept this. In football, sometimes these things happen and it is difficult for the players to cope, but they made a very big effort today."
