Breaking: Newcastle United Sack Steve McClaren

Newcastle United have confirmed that they have fired Steve McClaren  as the head coach following a poor result in the English Premier League season.

McClaren has only managed just six victories out of the 28 games he has led his side to this season, his latest defeat was in the hands of Bournemouth on Saturday.

The Club disclosed that it took them time to reach such decision but admitted that it was inevitable at this point, as the club lies in the 19th position on the EPL log, just 10-games to go before 2015/16 season finally wraps up.

Lee Charnley said: "I would like to thank Steve personally for his services to Newcastle United. He is a man of integrity and class and he has conducted himself with great dignity during this difficult time.

"Steve worked tirelessly to try and bring success to Newcastle United. He has the utmost respect of all the players, staff and management and he leaves with our very best wishes and sincere thanks.

"We feel that a change is now needed in order to give the Club the best possible chance of securing its Premier League future.

"A further announcement on a successor to Steve will be made in due course." NUFC
