Ex-Nigerian international, Vincent Enyeama, has said that he deserves to win this year's Ligue 1 best goalkeepers' award, after missing out of the 2014 edition.
The former Enyimba of Aba goalkeeper, who was ranked 6th best goalkeeper in Europe has kept 14 clean sheets in 21 out of 35 matches for his side in French topflight.
The 33-year old most-capped es-Eagles shotstopper was among the goalkeepers nominated by the Professional Union of French Players for the Best Goalkeeper award in Ligue 1 alongside France and Marseille keeper Steve Mandanda, Paris Saint-Germain’s Kevin Trapp and Lyon’s Anthony Lopes.
The winner of the award will emerge after the end of Ligue 1 season on Sunday. Lille face fourth-placed St Etienne at Stade Geoffroy-Guichard in the last fixture of the season.
Enyeama lamented the decision to give the award to Italy and PSG’s Salvatore Sirigu in 2014, saying he had not recovered from the disappointment of losing the gong after pulling off 11 consecutive clean sheets.

The 2003 and 2004 CAF Champions League winner, who retired from international football after a row with former Nigeria manager Sunday Oliseh last year, says his mistake in the 2-1 defeat to Ligue 1 champions PSG in the final of the French League Cup Stade de France on Aril 23 should not be used as an excuse or a reason to deny him the award this time round.
"I made a mistake on the second goal, okay. But I think I had a great match. But when I look at the summary, I see that my dumpling! Sometimes it is not fair,” the ex-Enyimba custodian, who was named among the top 10 goalkeepers in Europe for the 2015/16 season by the Swiss-based CIES Football Observatory recently, said."
He finished in sixth place behind Manuel Neuer (Bayern), Jan Oblak (Atletico Madrid), Gianluigi Buffon (Juventus,) Trapp (PSG) and Claudio Bravo (Barcelona).
