We Have Ourselves To Blame For Real's 1-0 Loss- Manuel Pellegrini

Manchester City manager, Manuel Pellegrini, has blamed his side's 1-0 loss to Real Madrid at the Barnabau on Wednesday night on their inability to create chances.

Real, who will face rival, Atletico Madrid weren't lethal enough to have beating City convincingly,

but managed to grind out a narrow victory over the premier league side, scoring just one goal in their two-legged game.

The outgoing City manager also added that Madrid were lucky to have got that deflected goal which went to the left top corner of Joe Hart's goal.

"We didn’t create many chances," he stated. "It was similar to the first leg.

"Real Madrid were very lucky with the goal - it was a cross that deflected into the top corner.

"We didn't create many chances, like in the first leg. We were not very creative in the last third.

"We worked very well and tried to recover the ball high and make a difference.

"We had a good chance with Fernandinho and another with Kun but we didn't create very much."

City's night suffered a frustrating start when Vincent Kompany was forced off through injury.

Pellegrini admitted having to bring the skipper off was a blow but reiterated his disappointment at the lack of chances created.

"It is not the best thing to change the defender after six minutes but our problem is that we were not very creative in the final third," he continued.

"We will see how Vincent is tomorrow."
