Enyimba midfielder, Ikechukwu Ibenegbu, has expressed disappointment in his side's performance against South African side, Mamelodi Sundowns.
The Premier Soccer League side defeated the Nigerian topflight defending champions 2-1 on Wednesday to go top of Group B in the ongoing CAF champions league.
The NPFL side have now lost their first two games in the group stage risking elimination in the group stage of the tournament except if they win their remaining two games with good goal margin.
"Mamelodi Sundowns' defeat is disappointing to we the players."
"The team was positive ahead of the game but reverse is the case at the end of 90 minutes, we were positive to claim the three points at stake."
"We have to move on from the defeats and prepare for the remaining group games and stop crying over already spilled milk."
"We want to say that all hopes are not lost as far as qualification from the group is concerned."
"In football it’s not over until it’s completely over so we have to fight harder this time at the Egyptian side, Zamalek SC, for the three points at stake."
"It looks tough but not impossible to defeat Zamalek right there in Egypt now that the tie is essentially a must-win clash."
"I do not think it’s over for us, rather we want Nigerians to keep praying and supporting us to overcome the daunting task ahead."
"We have been on a similar path previously. We will certainly overcome the trying period and put smiles on the faces of Nigerians,"
The two time CAF champions league winner will travel to Egypt to face the five time champions, Zamalek SC, on August 14 at the Petro Sport in Cairo, Egypt while the last group clash will be against Sundowns on August 23 in Port Harcourt.
