France and Juventus midfielder, Paul Pogba, has said that Portugal captain, Cristiano Ronaldo, deserves to win this year's Ballon d'Or following his feat of winning champions league and the Euro 2016 titles- both in one year.
The three-time world best player only lasted 25 minutes on the pitch in last Sunday's final against host country, France, but his sideline motivation played a major role in his side triumph in Europe for the very first time.
Ronaldo also scored the winning penalty when they beat city rivals, Atletico Madrid in the Champions League final via a shootout, and Pogba, who lost to the Portuguese team said Ronaldo has achieved more than Messi this year, so, he gives the award to him.
Both Ronaldo and Messi have shared the global award between themselves in the last eight to nine years, with Messi winning five while Ronaldo is currently on three.
Pogba, who might eventually join premier league side, Manchester United this summer, also said that his countryman, Antonie Griezmann also deserve the award but for the fact that he lost both champions league and Euro titles to Ronaldo.
"You have [Lionel] Messi, you have Ronaldo. Honestly, I like them both. [Antoine] Griezmann has had an amazing year," he told ESPN Deportes.
"For me, it's Cristiano Ronaldo [who should win], because he won the Champions League and Euro 2016."
The winner of this year's ballon d'Or will be annunced in January 2017.
