Sunshine Stars Shift Focus To NPFL Title- Samson Adedipe

Following their Federation's Cup round of 16 ouster, Sunshine Stars of Akure have now shifted focus to the Nigeria Professional Football League title.

The Owena Boys were bundled out of the tournament by the championship's defending champions,

Akwa United in a game that was judged by penalties after both had failed to outshine each other in the normal regulation time.

Sunshine's Samson Adedipe, who plays in the midfield for the NPFL side, said they have now got two more targets for this season, win the NPFL title, or pick up a continental ticket, or even both.

"Our target now is on the league shield or better still get a continental slot. That loss to Akwa United in the Federation Cup on penalties was painful but we've got to move on and now our only target is the League shield or a continental slot," Adedipe told Goal.

The Akure Gunners are seven points shy of the league leaders, Wikki Tourist and Enugu Rangers, but Adedipe insists that nothing is impossible.

"Our target is on the league now and by the special grace of God we shall accomplish our aim," he added.

"Nothing is impossible in the game of football,  we shall work hard towards achieving our target and I'm hopeful that it'll come to pass that we achieved our set goals."
