Following the fans outburst that marred the Ikorodu United FC's Nigeria Professional Football League Match day 30 fixture against Shooting Stars of Ibadan, the management of the club has opted for Moshood Abiola stadium, Abeokuta as their home for the remainder of the season.
The Oga Boys were banished to Abeokuta by the League Management Company as a result of their inability to control their fans during the game in the game that ended 1-1 at the Onikan stadium.
The Lagos based club defeated Niger Tornadoes 1-0 on Matchday 32 as they serve their punishment, and the club has now stated that they will want to remain in Abeokuta to solve their security glitches in the league.
"We will not be able to guarantee the full control of the crowd and general safety at the Onikan Stadium as the unruly fans at the Onikan Stadium are not known to us and neither can they be identified should there be any form of fracas," the club wrote in its appeal letter.
Ikorodu has now been directed by the LMC to finalise plans with the Ogun State Football Association towards ensuring that adequate preparations are made for security and crowd control for the matches.
Ikorodu United will thus host El-Kanemi Warriors in one of the Matchday 33 fixtures at the MKO Abiola Stadium on Sunday.
The LMC has consistently and in accordance with provisions of the Rules and Framework meted out appropriate sanctions to erring clubs, players, officials and fans to ensure decorum in the NPFL. It is ironical that what initially seemed punitive has turned out a blessing for Ikorodu United. LMC
