Wikki Tourists returned to the top of the Nigeria Professional Football League log on Sunday after beating Lagos based side, MFM FC 2-1 at the Abubakar Tafawa Balewa Stadium in Bauchi, and the captain of the side, Mustapha Ibrahim, believes they will maintain that position until they win the title.
NPFL All Stars forward, Godwin Obaje, was responsible for his side's two first half goals while he
also takes the pole position to clinch the Rashidi Yekini highest goals scorer boot at the end of this NPFL season with 16 goals at the moment, just one to equal last season's record set by former Warri Wolves striker, Gbolahan Salami.
The captain further explained that being at the top isn't new to them, as they relinquished that position to Rangers at some point, but insisted that this time, it won't happen again.
Ibrahim also revealed that their next game against IfenyiUbah FC is an important game, adding that they are battle ready for that clash.
"I can comfortably and confidently tell you that Wikki Tourists have come to stay permanently at the NPFL summit."
"We have been there severally but were later dethroned by other challengers this time is for real."
"We have an important as well as decisive match at FC IfeanyiUbah in Nnewi that is an acid test to our resolve to maintain the status quo."
'FC IfeanyiUbah have proven time without number that they are good and quality side, we hope to prepare adequately to get a positive result in the clash."
"We are aware of the stiff challenges coming from Enugu Rangers and Rivers United for the sole of the league crown."
"We have told ourselves that no task will be too hard or tough for us to go through in order to achieve our lofty dream of becoming the champions at the end of the season," said the Wikki Tourists strongman to supersport
The Bauchi outfit are at the Nigerian top-flight summit on 53 points two above closest challengers, Enugu Rangers.
