Flying Eagles coach, Manu Garba may have won the African Youth Championship for Nigeria last Sunday in Senegal, he has insisted that his team is not yet there to compete at the 2015 FIFA World Cup in New Zealand.

The Nigerian U-20 side defeated host nation, Senegal 1-0 to win their seventh AYC title unbeaten, but were forced to a 2-2 draw by Ivory Coast in their third group A game.

The former national U-17 manager guided the Golden Eaglets to conquer the world in the United Arab Emiartes in Dubai in 2013, and has once again proved his ability to winning titles after clinching the AYC title on Sunday.

The 49 year-old manager said he will still have to accommodate the likes of Kelechi Iheanacho, Isaac Success, Musa Yahaya and other players who were absent at the AYC for the final screening exercise before the FIFA Under 20 tournament in New Zealand.

“This is a team that did not play at 100 per cent strength because we still have a couple of players that were not released from their clubs”

“We’ll have player who will come to join us later in the year to also compete for places in the world cup team. I believe that we’ll do all we can to make sure that we win the world cup for Nigeria for the first time God willing” footballlive
