Bayern Munich have confirmed that defender David Alaba will be out of action for almost two months after tearing his left knee ligament when in action for Austria.

The 22-year-old Bayern defender was substituted at half-time in Austria's 1-1 friendly game against Bosnia-Herzegovina after he collided with Hoffenheim's Ermin Bicakcic.

Alaba revealed that he is unhappy at his current injury. but his club has said he would undergo tests upon his return to Munich.

"I'm obviously very sad," Alaba told the club's official website. "But I have a big goal: to be back before the end of the season.

"I will recover well now and go into the rehab on full throttle."

Alaba, who suffered a similar injury in his right knee back in November, will miss both legs of his side's Champions League quarter-final with Porto and the majority of the Bundesliga run-in.

However, he could be fit for the DFB Pokal and Champions League finals on May 30 and June 6 respectively. Goal
