Former Super Eagles skipper, Kanu Nwankwo has tipped Flying Eagles striker, Taiwo Awoniyia to reign if he continues to maintain his form.
Awoniyi on Sunday handed the national U-23 team the All African Games ticket over Zambia, in the final round of the qualifiers when he struck twice for the Dream Team VI.
Kanu, who won the champions league with Ajax said that he believes the Nigeria Youth international has what it takes to become one of the best that will ever grace the game of football in future.
The 2013 U-17 FIFA world cup winner at the United Arab Emirates has so far made his mark this year helping the Nigeria U20 side win the 2015 African Youth Championship as well as grabbing a brace that helped the Nigeria U23 team qualify for the All African Games.
“Watched him play for U17/U20 and talked to him, our hottest kid and if he keeps doing his best he will be a star. AWONIYI,” Kanu wrote on his Twitter handle.
Awoniyi who was part of the 2013 Fifa U17 World Cup winning team is expected to lead the Flying Eagles’ attack when the 2015 Fifa U20 World Youth Championship commences next month in New Zealand.
