Barcelona beats Atletico Madrid to clinch La Liga title

FC Barcelona have won their 7th La Liga title in the last 10 years following their 1-0 victory over Atletico Madrid at the Vincent De Caldron on Sunday.

Lionel Messi's brilliant strike in the 65th minute of the game won the title for the Blaugrana, who are hopeful of winning a treble this year, the feat they last achieved under Pep Guardiola.

With just one game to go this season, Barcelona won the league with four points ahead of Real Madrid while Atletico are 3rd with 12 points behind Real.

The Diego Simeone's men won the title last season on head-to-head rule after holding the Gerardo Martino's men to a 1-1 draw.

Barcelona will face Athletic Bilbao on May 30 for the Copa Del Rey final while they battle Juventus on June 6 for Europe's most prestigious price in football, the UEFA champions league title.
