The United States national team coach, Jill Ellis, has revealed that her side's professionalism helped her in beating the Super Falcons of Nigeria.
The USWNT defeated Nigeria 1-0 in Wednesday's last Group D game in Vancouver which made the Americans progress to the next round top of the group with 7 points and the African champions just 1 point after three games.
Nigeria started their campaign with a 3-3 draw against Sweden, a feat many commended them for, but falter against Australia and US 2-0 and 1-0 respectively in the ongoing 2015 FIFA Women's World Cup in Canada.
“I was very pleased with our movement off the ball; the way we played the game I thought we were professional in what we tried to do and managed the game well” Ellis said.
Australia also qualifies automatically is second place with four points while Sweden many still qualify with three points as third best loser.
Ellis who was appointed head coach on May 16, 2014 after serving as interim coach of United States women, following an early departure of Pia Sundhage, in October 2012 brimmed with excitement at reaching the knockout phase after a very tough game and tough group.
