NFF Was Right To Sack Keshi- Bonfere Jo

1996 Olympics gold medal winning coach, Johannes Bonfrere has told the Nigeria Football Federation to hire a foreign technical adviser to replace former coach of the Super Eagles, Stephen Keshi.

The 2013 African Cup of Nations winning coach was sacked by the NFF last weekend after he was alledged to have applied for the position of the Ivory Coast head coach while still on contract with the Nigerian FA.

The NFF claimed that Keshi was sacked due to his lack of commitment to achieve the federation’s objectives with the nation's senior national team.

“I think the NFF need to hire a foreign coach to take charge of the Super Eagles,” Bonfrere toldCompletesportsnigeria.com.

“The Super Eagles have failed to make much impact since they won the African Cup of Nations in 2013 and it has to do with the inability of the coaches to take the team to new heights.

“Personally, I don’t think Stephen Keshi have what it takes to take the team beyond where they are now.

“So the decision made by the NFF to sack him was the right one.

“The next task before them now is to carefully look for a capable foreign coach that can help improve the performance of the team.”

Swede’s Lars Lagerbäck who led Nigeria to the 2010 Fifa World Cup in South Africa was the last expatriate to handle the country’s senior national football team.
