OBOABONA CONGRATULATES OLYMPIC EAGLES...
Çaykur Rizespor defender, Godfrey Oboabona, has hailed the Nigerian U23 national team after reaching the quarter finals of the men's football event in Rio, Brazil.
The Turkey based Super Eagles defender also urged the Siasia-led boys to stay focused and bring home gold medal, saying they should forget about the disappointments preparing for the games.
Nigeria, kept a clean sheet in their last game against Sweden while conceding four in their 5-4 win over Japan in their opening game, and the former Sunshine Stars of Akure player said he wishes this set of U23 can replicate what the 1996 team did, by winning gold in Atlanta.
"It is a thing of joy to see the progression of the team despite all the initial challenges. The players showed great character in the two matches".
"It is my hope that the players will keep their focus and continue to work hard so that the feat of 1996 in Atalanta will be repeated".
The 25-year old however urge Nigerians to support the team all the way, and also remember them in their prayers.
