Rio olympics: Coach Gbenga Ogunbote Warns Nigeria U-23 Against Complacency

Coach Gbenga Ogunbote of Shooting Stars has congratulated the Nigeria U-23 team after reaching the quarter finals of the men's football event at the Olympic Games in Rio, Brazil.

The Dream Team VI, as they are referred to beat Japan 5-4 in their opening game, and then sealed their triumph with a 1-0 against Sweden the second group clash early Monday in Manaus.

The former Gateway FC coach however warn the Samson Siasia tutored side never to get carried
away with their first two victories, saying to achieve their lofty dream of winning the Olympic gold medal, they must put in extra effort.

"Two wins from two matches is the best result anybody can ask for in a major championship."

"I congratulate the side for performing creditably well so far in the on-going football event of the Olympics."

"However, this is the stage the side have to be careful and work extremely hard for the next possible opponents at the quarterfinals."

"They are on good footing to emerge top of the group and by so doing know in advance who the next opponents will be."

"Right now they should be planning as well as working out perfect strategies for other matches."

"They have done well and could be further spurred to repeat the performance of the 1996 feat."
