Rio Olympics: Siasia; Mikel Shifts Focus To Bronze Medal Clash

Coach Samson Siasia has said he was disappointed with his side's performance against Germany in the men's football event at the ongoing Rio Olympic Games in Brazil.

The African champions were beaten 2-0 by their German counterparts on Wednesday, and they have the opportunity to fight for bronze medal against Honduras on Saturday by 5pm Nigerian time.

The former Flying Eagles coach also added that the Nigerian contingent didn't show they needed to be in the final after losing clear cut chances in the game.

"I am disappointed. Even we had chances, we couldn’t score. The German team did better."

"It is a shame but we don’t deserve to stay in the final playing like that."

Also, the Team Nigeria captain, Mikel John Obi, has said that they have the chance to make things right by bringing home bronze medal in their third place fight.

Mikel said, "We didn’t play well. We don’t deserve to be in the final."

"We are professional players and hopefully we can win a medal," he said. Punch

Nigeria won gold at the Atlanta ’96 Olympics  and silver at Beijing 2008, while they miss the football event in 2012.
