Coach Samson Siasia has said that the Nigeria U-23 team has said that he will now allow their first two victories over Japan and Sweden sway them away from reaching their target, which is winning gold in Brazil.
The former Flying Eagles coach, who led the Dream Team VI to the quarter finals of the 2016 edition of the games in Brazil said he will approach each game as they come, instead of fretting on his team's
possible quarter final possible foe.
AS Roma youngster, Sadiq Umar, was responsible for downing Sweden on Sunday night after nodding Amuzie's cross home in the 40th minute of the game in Manaus to reach the knock out round of the competition, where they could face hosts Brazil.
Sia One, as he's popularly referred to hailed his defenders who refused to allow any goal in in the game, saying it was the concerted effort of the entire technical crew.
"I think for me and the boys all we are doing now is taking it a game at a time, we are not bothered about the team we will be playing in the quarter finals, let's play Colombia first and from there we will think of our opponents at that stage," said Siasia after Sweden’s game.
"The issue of the team I will prefer to play in the quarter final stage doesn't arise now; what is uppermost in my mind is getting my boys focused for every game."
"As you all can see, today [against Sweden] my defence line didn't concede any goal, yes myself and my technical crew worked very hard to correct all the lapses we noticed in our first game and I am happy my boys stood their ground and kept a clean sheet today. All I can say for now is that it's work in progress."
Nigeria play Colombia at the Arena Corinthians, Sao Paulo on Wednesday.
