Abubakar Bala has revealed that Niger Tornadoes' last weekend's 1-0 defeat to Ikorodu United has put the team under immense pressure, most especially when the Nigeria Professional Football League 2015/16 league season is fast coming to an end.
The defeat left the coach Abubakar Bala-led side on the 13th position with 39 points, just three points above the relegation bound teams.
The coach insisted that his side will not only survive the drop, but they will finish the top-flight campaign among the top 10 teams.
"Of course, the loss at Ikorodu United has added little pressure on us as it concerns our position on the league table."
"However, I want to assure our teeming fans and supporters that Niger Tornadoes will not go down on relegation but survive to compete among the top 10 finishers."
"If you take a pensive look at the log though, we cannot be described as comfortable, but we are among the teams with the brightest chances of survival."
"We are already strategising on the remaining matches on the top-flight calendar."
"We are yet to pick a point on the road. We have a target to win away points as well as consolidate on the home front."
"Right now we are working very hard on the clash against Lobi Stars on Sunday in Lokoja."
"Lobi Stars are a difficult side but we have the template to undo the side to claim the whole points at stake."
"Niger Tornadoes are not afraid or scared of any team in the top-flight, we are certain to survive the drop as well as finish the campaign respectfully," Bala told supersport
The NPFL newcomers are 14th on the Nigerian top-flight log with 40 points, 13 behind league leaders Wikki Tourists.
