A board member of the Ghana Football Association, Fred
Pappoe, has expressed displeasure at the absence of the Super Eagles of Nigeria
at the 30th edition of the African Cup of Nations kicking-off this
weekend at Equitorial Guinea.
“I just want to say that in a brother sense or sporting sense
I think the competition and everyone will miss Nigeria not participating in
this year’s tournament” Footballlive
Nigeria will not be defending the title they won two years
ago in South Africa which made it the third AFCON title due to their failure of
qualifying for this year’s edition.
Nigeria, ranked third behind south Africa and DR Congo in
Group A of the qualifying series, after the Eagles could not get pass the
Bafana boys on the final day of the qualifiers.
“Definitely we’ll miss the Super Eagles; Nigeria is our big
brother and we need them in everything and even though we have a very strong
competition this year, we always enjoy having Nigeria around” he told
footballlive.ng.”
