Sunderland have hired Dick Advocaat to replace Gus Poyet for the rest of the season.
The new Sunderland manager has been described as a well-seasoned coach with more than 30 years' experience in club and international football management, but none in the English Premier League.
The Dutchman before his appointment has won titles with PSV Eindhoven, in the Netherlands, Rangers, in Scotland, and Russia's Zenit St Petersburg, and also guided to UEFA Cup and UEFA Super Cup success in 2007/08.
The 67-year-old has also been in charge of various national teams, including the Netherlands (twice), Belgium, South Korea, Russia and, most recently, Serbia and Montenegro.
This will be Advocaat's first time in English football, but he is looking forward to helping Sunderland, who are a point above the drop zone, avoid relegation from the Barclays Premier League in the nine matches that remain.

"Sunderland is a big club and I am very much looking forward to the challenge ahead," Advocaat, who will be in charge for Sunderland'strip to West Ham United on Saturday, told safc.com. "We must now concentrate on Saturday as a priority and I can’t wait to get started."
Sunderland chairman Ellis Short highlighted Advocaat's "incredible CV and vast experience of managing at the very highest level".
"We have one aim only now: to climb the table and everyone is fully focused on the task ahead of us," Short said.
Advocaat will be joined at the Stadium of Light by Zeljko Petrovic as first-team coach and Adrian Tucker, the former Swansea and England under-20 goalkeeping coach.
Sunderland AFC academy coach Paul Bracewell will also support the head coach and his backroom team until the end of the season.
