Argentina Name Edgardo Bauza As Gerardo Martino's Replacement

The Argentina Football Association, has revealed that it has signed Sao Paulo coach, Edgardo Bauza as Gerardo Martino's replacement.

Martino resigned as the Selección's head coach after losing the Copa America title back to back to
Chile in 2015 and 2016, unlike then Nigeria Football Federation, who have found it so tasking to find a suitable replacement for Sunday Oliseh following his resignation in February this year.

Sao Paulo confirmed the news after they revealed that the trainer was moving back to his home country.

"Sao Paulo announce that Edgardo Bauza has revealed he received and accepted on Monday evening an offer from the Argentine Football Association (AFA) to take over the national team," a statement read.

"As a result, he will leave the post of coach of the Tricolor.

"Hired at the start of the season, Paton leaves the club after eight months of important work rebuilding the team."

Bauza comes with a sterling record in South American football, having led both Liga de Quito and San Lorenzo to their first-ever Copa Libertadores triumphs, in 2008 and 2013 respectively.

The Rosario native had also taken Sao Paulo to the latter stages of this year's Copa, only to fall in the semi-finals to eventual winners Sao Paulo.

The NFF, who have named coach Salisu Yusuf as the Super Eagles head coach, are still in search of a foreign technical adviser.
