Nigeria's hopes of winning Olympic Games gold medal in the men's football event was on Wednesday dashed following their 2-0 defeat to Germany in the second semi finals of the games.
Lukas Klostermann put the Europeans ahead in the 9th minute after tapping in Maximilian Meyer's cross, and all through the first half, the Germans defended their one goal lead well.
The Germans took advantage of Samson Siasia's team, which was without the midfield duo of Oghenekaro Etebo and Okechukwu Azubuike and compounded Nigeria's woes in the 89th minute of the game at the Arena Corinthians, São Paulo in Brazil.
Nigeria will now settle for a Bronze medal clash against Honduras, which was outclassed by Brazil 6-0 earlier in the day to book a date with Germany in the final.
Samson Siasia will equally be expecting Etebo and Azubuike to return for their final match on Saturday- a bronze medal won't be a bad idea for their efforts afterall.
