Rio Olympics: CAS Stops IAAF From Stopping Russia's Darya Klishina

The Court of Arbitration for Sports has cleared Russia's Darya Klishina to compete at the ongoing Rio Olympic Games long jump events, which begins on Tuesday.

The 25 year old track and field athlete, who was initially cleared by the IAAF to compete in Brazil as a neutral athlete was suddenly pulled out of the long jump event three days to her event due to a new Evidence from the World Anti-Doping Agency indicating the Russian athlete.

The latest doping investigation was conducted by lawyer Richard McLaren, urging the IAAF to stop her from participating in the long jump event.

"The parties were informed that the application was upheld and that the athlete remained eligible to compete in the Olympic Games in Rio," CAS told Reuters

"The athlete established that she was subject to fully compliant drug testing, in and out of competition, outside of Russia," CAS said in a statement.
