Spain Beat Nigeria's D'Tigers In Third Successive Rio Olympic Games

The Nigerian Basketball team, lost their third basketball game to Spain in the early hours of Friday in the ongoing men's basketball event of the Olympic Games in Rio, Brazil.

The coach Williams Voigt's men were beaten by the world number two 96-87, as the Nigerian basketballers played the game of their lives and lost to the European side with nine points margin.

Nigeria, who has already lost to Argentina and   Lithuania in their first two games lost the first quarter of the game to the European side 25-11.

Spain continued their dominance in the second quarter, but this time, the margin was closed up massively, ending the half time with Spain beating Nigeria 43-41.

The game proceeded to the third quarter with Nigeria taking the lead for the first time in the game, beating Spain 66-65, a point advantage ahead of world number two in the game, as they go into the fourth quarter of the game.

But Spain’s superior experience told in the end as they stepped it up a gear in the fourth quarter to win their first game of Rio 2016.

Chamberlain Oguchi top scored for Nigeria with an impressive 24 points, while Pau Gasol scored 18 points for Spain.

D’Tigers, who lost their first two games to Argentina and Lithuania, must now beat Croatia and Brazil in their next two matches to reach the quarter-finals.
